Adjective – truly what something is said to be; authentic.
As humans, we are equipped to experience a range of emotions – joy, sadness, anger, fear, love, and more. These emotions are a part of our human experience, and they help us navigate our lives. However, in a world that often values productivity, efficiency, and positivity, it can be challenging to always express one’s genuine feelings.
Genuine feelings are emotions that we experience authentically and without holding back. It is the opposite of putting up a façade and pretending to feel a certain way. Or have a mask on so to say. Genuine feelings allow us to connect with ourselves and others at a deeper level, fostering empathy, responsiveness and compassion.
When we suppress our genuine feelings, we risk experiencing emotional burnout, which can lead to physical and mental health problems. The primary one being stress and anxiety. It is essential to acknowledge and express our feelings to maintain a healthy emotional balance and have relationships which are real.
Here is what one can do to be sure that we are expressing genuine feelings:
Take time to reflect: Before expressing your feelings, take a moment to reflect on what you are experiencing. Identify the emotion you are feeling and try to understand why you are feeling that way. This is important for from here comes how we react.
Communicate clearly: When expressing your feelings, it is crucial to communicate clearly and directly. Use “I” statements to convey your experience, rather than blaming or criticizing others. Till we are able to say what we feel, it is most unlikely that others are able to ‘guess’ correctly what we feel.
Be present: When someone else is sharing their feelings, be present and actively listen without judgment. Avoid offering unsolicited advice or interrupting them. Listeners make great friends too. For the person who is sharing something with you is doing so because he or she has already experienced either something terrible or something euphoric and wants to share that – by being able to patiently listen can be the greatest help and gift someone needs at that time.
Create a safe space: Create a safe space for yourself and others to express their genuine feelings without fear of judgment or ridicule. This can be done by setting boundaries, practicing active listening, and creating an atmosphere of trust and empathy. When someone who is sharing something with you is confident that they can depend on you to keep their hope alive and belief in human relationships then is where you make and express genuine feelings and relationships.
Practice self-care: It is essential to take care of yourself to maintain emotional balance. This can include activities such as meditation, exercise, journaling, and spending time with loved ones. It is great to be responsive to the needs of others but keep ourself in your own emotional embrace too.
Can thus be safely stated that genuine feelings are a crucial part of our human experience. It is essential to acknowledge and express our feelings to maintain emotional balance and foster empathy and compassion and kind-heartedness. By following these tips, we can create a safe space for ourselves and others to express their emotions authentically & reliably.
Remember, it’s okay not to be okay, and it’s okay to express your genuine feelings!

I agree with you and I believe that people are afraid of expressing their genuine feelings because they feel they’ll be ridiculed our society isn’t that easy to deal with. However I also believe the more they speak they’ll be able to relieve themselves of unwanted stress.
