We planned a dinner, calm and neat,
A quiet little place to rest our feet.
Instead we found - oh, what a scene!
A million people... and none in between!
The music boomed, the walls all shook,
Conversation? We gave that one look.
We shouted so much, our voices took flight,
My son declared, "You all won tonight!"
We ordered cocktails, smooth and grand,
With glamorous names we'd barely understand.
But somewhere between the menu and tale,
We happily settled for many a mocktail!
Then down came rain in dramatic style,
Enough to flood each city mile.
Outside stood Gen Z, bold and bright,
In outfits that gave our generation fright!
Ripped here, cropped there, sequins galore,
Less seemed fashionable... who needed more?
We smiled and wondered, trying not to stare,
If fabric had suddenly become terribly rare!
Nearby a stag party raised quite a cheer,
Celebrating life with bucketloads of beer.
The offers were tempting - it almost seemed clear,
Beer cost less than bottled water here!
The bill arrived - we survived somehow,
Still laughing louder than ever now.
Then came the umbrellas... stubborn and proud,
Refusing to open before the crowd.
One of us finally simply gave in,
Walked through the rain with a mischievous grin.
"Why fight the weather?" came cheerful advice,
"Let's go with the flow!" - which actually sounded nice.
One by one we all drove away,
Ending a wonderfully ridiculous day.
Not what we'd planned, not neat, not prim,
But somehow perfect... right to the brim.
Because friendships aren't measured by silence or grace,
Or choosing the world's most elegant place.
They're found in the shouting, the laughter, the rain,
The stories we'll happily tell once again.
So, here's to the friends who make nonsense sublime,
Who turn ordinary evenings into magical time.
May life keep surprising us - come sunshine or strife,
Here's to friendship... and here's to life!
Cheers to friends who make every wrong plan the right memory.
Cheers to laughter that drowns out even the loudest music.
And cheers to life... because the best evenings are almost never the ones we planned.
