Innocence – Noun – lack of guile or corruption; purity.
The innocence of our soul is that powerful force that resides within each one of us. It’s the part of us that’s pure, untainted, and free from the burdens of life. Our soul’s innocence is the source of our inner beauty, our intuition, and our deepest desires. I have always looked to explore the significance of this innocence within us and why it’s important to nurture it.
What is the Innocence of Our Soul?
The innocence of our soul is the state of being that exists when we’re born into this world. It’s the pure, untainted essence of who we are before we’re influenced by the world around us. It’s that part of us that’s free from fear, judgment, and negativity & pessimism. Our soul’s innocence is what facilitates us in seeing the world with wonder and curiosity, to feel love and compassion for ourselves and others, and to live in a state of peace and contentment and immense serenity. (But do we?)
Why is the Innocence of Our Soul Important?
I have often wondered about this and have thought endlessly about this aspect too. And I have always concluded that this innocence of our soul is important for innumerable reasons.
Firstly, it’s the foundation of our inner beauty. When we’re in touch with our soul’s innocence, we radiate a beauty that comes from within. We become more loving, kind, and compassionate towards ourselves and others. We also become more accepting of ourselves, our own flaws, and learn to appreciate the beauty that comes from our unique imperfections. We realize that we aren’t perfect and neither are others.
Secondly, the innocence of our soul is the source of our intuition. Our soul speaks to us through our intuition, guiding us towards the things that are right for us and warning us when we’re veering off course. When we’re in touch with our soul’s innocence, we’re better able to listen to our intuition and trust the guidance it provides. This intuition helps us to stay on track and when we listen to it there is a huge likelihood of us being able to make better choices and see every situation more clearly and non-judgementally.
Thirdly, this innocence of our soul is the source of our deepest desires. Our soul knows what we truly need and desire, even when our minds and egos are clouded by the noise of the world, the cacophony of those around us and the temptations within us. When we’re in touch with our soul’s innocence, we’re better able to connect with our true desires and pursue them with conviction and purpose. We know for sure what is good for us and appropriate, what is that which connects us to that sense of self-fulfilment.
How Can We Nurture this Innocence of Our Soul?
Nurturing the innocence of our soul requires us to take conscious, mindful and sensible decisions which are steps towards reconnecting with our inner essence: Our very spirit of ourselves, which is the crux of who we are as an individual!
My dwellings and ponderings have led me to make a list for myself of the many or some ways to nurture this innocence of our soul:
Spend time in nature: Spending time in nature can help us reconnect with the beauty and wonder of the world around us. It helps us to remain real. To be grounded for the immense beauty of the vastness of this universe and the nature around us makes us realize that we are but a small spec in the whole large scheme of things. It can thus help us to tap into the incorruptibility of our soul and quieten the noise of remorse from our dealings in this world.
Practice self-care: Practicing self-care I have always felt helps me to tune into my inner needs and desires. By taking care of ourselves physically, emotionally, and mentally, we create a space for our soul’s innocence to flourish and thrive on notes of positivity and gladness. These have a huge multiplier effect on our peripheral emotions and actions thus leading us to be in a state of self-contentment.
Meditate: Meditation is a powerful tool for reconnecting with our inner essence. By quieting our minds and focusing on our breath, we can tap into the purity and innocence of our soul. I have felt the power of Yoga help me with that through moments which seem unbearably disquieting and disturbing. By connecting again with our breathing, we begin to learn to focus on what is important: Living; as opposed to rushing from morning to evening in a trance which often leaves us exhausted.
Practice gratitude: I have found this to the most powerful tool I have within me to calm myself and to reconnect with myself and my heart. Gratitude is a formidable tool for cultivating inner beauty and connecting with our soul’s innocence. By focusing on the blessings in our lives, we create a space for our soul to shine through and then every step becomes something of a blessing.
As the sun sets or when it helps me awaken to another beautiful day, I realize that the incorruptibility & purity of our soul is a potent force that’s essential for our wellbeing and happiness. By nurturing the innocence of our soul, we can tap into our inner strengths & explore depths of our achievable boundaries with regards to being better individuals and human beings. By taking conscious & determined steps towards reconnecting with our inner essence, I feel that I can create for myself a more fulfilling and meaningful existence which makes our life consequential for ourselves and also for all those around us, associated with us.
