No Fanfare, Only Brain Fry

…was there, am there, will be there….!

My day began without fanfare,
The clock struck seven without a care.
Then I jumped up as if doom had arrived,
With kettle and chai barely surviving alive.

The chores marched in with the heat in tow,
Turning the house into a full circus show.
I thought I’d stay calm, patient and cool,
But life immediately declared me the fool.

The dog, the bunny and the staff showed up,
Making me realise today was a “full cup.”
The routine began in its usual style,
With enough chaos to stretch for a mile.

The bedsheets got changed with dramatic flair,
The dishwasher hummed like it owned the air.
The washing machine refused to stay behind,
Spinning with the energy of an unhinged mind.

The bunnies hopped out with judgemental grace,
The dog let out sighs all over the place.
The turkey birds quacked from deep in their shed,
While the weather itself messed with our heads.

As if this circus wasn’t already complete,
A monkey arrived for a front-row seat.
The pigeons created a scandal with seeds,
Each behaving according to personal needs.

Water, of course, became everyone’s demand,
One dunked fully in like life was grand.
Another flapped wings with theatrical pride,
While I questioned my sanity deep inside.

The heat made all of us terribly slow,
Even basic chores felt harder somehow.
The work was mundane, ordinary and dry,
Yet enough to make patience quietly die.

Then breaka was eaten and people dispersed,
One to office, another to exercise well rehearsed.
And I, in my glory, sat down for a sway,
Pretending peace had finally come my way.

Soon whispers floated through corridors long,
“This work is done!” came the victory song.
“That one’s completed!” another voice cried,
While fresh confusion quietly multiplied.

I casually asked to get sourdough for night,
A simple request, harmless and light.
Instructions were given with reasonable care,
Though half the listeners mentally weren’t there.

Then came another whisper — “Madam, outside…”
The lobby was boiling, my BP replied.
There on the island, majestic and wide,
Sat four giant sourdough loaves side by side.

Apparently one loaf was not enough to buy,
Because somebody assumed we ran a bakery supply.
And there, in the heat of this glorious day,
My remaining patience simply melted away.

So now I sit with iced tea nearby,
The AC turned up heroically high.
Writing this poem in dramatic despair,
While my temper floats freely into the air.
Keep your cool says the tea,
Trying hard keep quiet thee!
