When their story becomes ours – Series 2: Keeping Alive the Traditions!

When I first wrote about Dirty Feet ( https://wickedly.blog/2019/02/22/when-their-story-becomes-ours-and-our-journey-theirs-into-that-heaven-of-empathy-my-father-let-my-country-awake/) I had decided that I would document all those journeys which would attempt to make our world a better place.

It was heartening to note when I read about one such enterprise which was trying to keep alive the Deccan traditions from the southern city of Hyderabad.

Meethe Miya (https://meethe-miya.business.site/ ) is a quaint shop which has all those delicious sweets which were made in our kitchens but only by the adventurous! The southern city of Hyderabad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyderabad) has always been famous for its Biryani, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyderabadi_biryani) a rice and meat delicacy and the poor lovely sweets of this city never found a place of pride.

For all patrons of this city who love to see the traditions flourishing this is the go-to place. Well, I am going to, for my future hampers for friends!!

My pick is the Badam Halwa (Almond sweet), The Shahi Tukkda (bread and milk preparation), Double ka meetha (Another bread and milk preparation), Qubani ka meetha (Apricot sweet), Badam Jalli (Almond biscuits) – which was already on my most preferred list since the last 2 decades! The list is endless there and I am looking forward to sampling all of the choices offered!!

The Double ka Meetha @ Meethe Miya is yum!!!
